2nd Round Cafe Kuantan

It was late evening, and the best place to hunt for good food to satisfy you hunger pangs are place like cafe life these. Food that they serve comes in smaller portion, there were variety of tidbits and the ambience is just nice for you to enjoy your afternoon nibble.

It was my second trip to this place to have my afternoon snack. I previously enjoyed their lamb chop set lunch that comes with complimentary drink for RM17.90 The lamb is grilled that comes with a black pepper sauce(not overcook and nicely marinated). However, I do admit that the portion looked a little small for lunch. Introduce you, some of the food that is served there:-

Marmalade Lime RM3.50

If it's a hot afternoon, Marmalade lime will be good enough to quench your thrist. I liked the way marmalade mix with lime juice.

Creamy Mussels RM9.90

The mussels tasted average/ordinary. And the sauce was cheesy and creamy. Did not excite me much but I'm not dissapointed it. You can choose either creamy/spicy. Let me know about the spicy one if you have the opportunity to try it.

2nd Round Fried Rice RM8.00

It was too pricy in my opinion though I liked the fried chicken alot. I could get half the price if I had my yong chow fried rice at some hawker stall. The fried rice was too salty too. However, I should give credit for the 'wok' smell the cook manage to incoporate into the fried rice (not many cook can do this).

Crocodile Rock Kuantan

It's New Year and everywhere in Kuantan is jam-packed with people. The hotels that serve New Year Dinner like Hyatt, Swiss Garden or MsGardens that serves variety of buffet style dinners usually are also packed with people. One thing I disliked about eating buffet where there's too many people are the food are scare and hence people don't eat with courtesy. They would grab 10-20 pcs of chicken wings at one go even there's only two of them eating and there's so much more other food that are serve in a buffet. In the end, you could barely walk back to get your car because you're over satiated, and you didn't really enjoy the food. And I would not go further talking about how you feel about buffet or chicken wings the next few days.

For these reason, we decided to have some ala carte dinner at somewhere homey and yet not too congested with dinners. A perfect place to enjoy this ambiance, would be Crocodile Rock, Kuantan.

THE PLACE
A place where they only cater for just enough numbers of customers and you have to make reservations during all these festive season 1-2 days. FYI: Walk-ins may sometime have no seats available. Also, seating weren't too near to each other, till you were rubbing knees with the man next table.

The overall design for this place is comfortable, the concept is somewhat like The Aparment at The Curve whereby home is the main theme for the whole interior. It's like as if you're eating at someone's house.

There's also a room for you to jam/play indoor games while you're waiting for your food to be served.

The only difference is that Crocodile Rock was built in a real ex-colonial house.

Honestly, I would recommend this place for family eating out or even chilling out with friends.

The Food

Bianco Pizza RM23.00

One of Crocodile Rock's specialty are their pizza. Their pizza are famous for it's thin and crusty base. There are many other pizza flavors like Marina, Pepperoni and Banana & Nuts (one of my favorite pizza). It's certain a must try and don't forget, the portion is for sharing. Crocodile also provide delivery to treat your hunger pangs at night or time where you're stuck up at your office for overtime.

Personal opinion: Bianco pizza would taste better if the salmon is thinly sliced and spread evenly all over the pizza instead of being placed sparsely.

Lamb Chop RM33.50

My Dad's all-time favorite. He would always order this whenever he visit Crocodile Rock. The lamb is properly marinated but at the same time does not overtake the lamb's taste. It is reccomended that you try it with Dauphanoise (baked potato that is baked with cheese and sour cream)as their side.

Deep Fried Cambert Cheese RM23.00
Cheese hidden under the crusty skin and were served with sweet cranberry sauce which reminds me of IKEA Meatballs. I was a little disappointed with the cheese. It didn't taste as what I thought it would take like. The cheese was too thick that it did not flow once it's cut. And hence it does not have the effect of crusty outside and soft inside.
